Mid-Semester Update

I’ve been spending a lot of time doing something I don’t normally do: homework. It’s been a lot of fun, as I’m now getting into the core of my major’s courses. This spring semester has been full of projects and I’ve been kept extremely busy. Aside from writing on The Uber Geeks, I’ve been making short films, writing papers, reading british post-modern novels, and working. The best part is, I’ve got even more to look forward to.

My film finally came back from being processed, so I’ll begin editing and piecing together sound on my short film for class. Thanks to all the people involved (Kevin Boyle, my ever-ready actor and provider of the home to film in, Amanda, for standing in a doing a great job as my actress, Ashley for being my partner on the project and helping me with my lack of skills). It’s a 3 minute short that had to involve two characters and eggs. What came out of my sick mind was a little film about a man caught having an affair with an egg. He’s caught in the act by his girlfriend, but she forgives him and buys him another dozen eggs. The title of the short is Speed Hump and should be done before the end of this month. After that I’ve got a final project to work on in the same class.

Aside from filming, I’ve been doing a lot of reading. I just picked up a copy of all Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy books which I’ll probably read all throughout the summer. I’ve also been reading some really great post-modern fiction that I’d never heard of until this semester. I’ll probably write another post on just those in the short future.

After this semester comes to an end, I’ll be doing some things I’ve wanted to do for a while. I’ll finally be leaving the country for a bit. I’ve yet to get my passport, but all good things come in time I suppose (I’ve really just been extremely lazy about the whole ordeal). Not only will I be heading to Canada with some friends for the better part of a week, but I’ll be taking a trip with my father to Jordan, where he was born. I’m pretty pumped for the trip, and a little anxious. I’m not too sure what to expect. I’ve taken two semesters of Arabic, but I’m still not competent enough to hold a conversation. I’ll probably look into some computer aides for learning a bit more, so I can, at the very least, ask for directions or something.

And that’s about it for now. Hopefully I’ll get some more chances to continue posting here, as I’ve been very bad for the entire time I’ve had this blog. ‘Til next time.
