Lifestyles

In between classes, and late at night when I’m trying to fall asleep, I began to analyze a lot of things that go on in my life. What I should be doing, what I could do to make my existence better, etc. This semester I took a biology course that deals with many of the items we eat today, how it affects our bodies and what not. It’s really made me interested in what I’m eating and what I should be eating. On top of that, last semester I read a book that really got my mind going on the exact purpose, or place, of man in this world. A little deep, but nonetheless something I’ve been running over and over. First off, I’ve always hated the vegetarian “movement.” It’s just stupid to not eat meat, as it has always been a part of human existence, and I see no reason for that to end. However, the way meat is mass produced and injected with so much garbage, I actually cringe everytime I take a bit into a burger. So I want to take this small sentence to say I do support the vegan/vegetarian movement for the following reasons: for a healthier being. To support it for any other reason is foolish.

My mother is a Vegan (a step up from just vegetarian, as it doesn’t include anything that comes from animals, including milk, eggs, cheeses), so I know I would have no problem getting food. I am in pretty horrid shape right now, so I definitely see the benefit of this lifestyle; I just feel a bit hypocritical for blasting the vegetarian ideal for so long. Alongside this, I’ve also been becoming quite interested in practicing yoga. It’s kind of strange how my ideas and perceptions of things drastically change in such a short amount of time away from home, where I am exposed to so many different ones. I even tried a few yoga moves the other day, and I have to say, it definitely had a general calming effect on me. Actually had me approaching the day a little different.

I’m still in the deciding phase, I guess you could say. But I definitely like the sound of a vegan-esque (I’ll either eat fish or just get EXTREMELY picky about what red meat I eat) and yoga lifestyle.
