56k Madness

Penn State has this policy, that if you download more than 1.5GB from sources outside of the Penn State network, you get reduced to 56k speeds for the rest of the week on which your violation occurred. My first semester here, I came close a couple of times, ending in only one violation towards the end of the year. It also happened on Saturday afternoon, and the week begins at 12am on Sunday, so I didn’t have the reduced speed for long. This semester though, I’ve already passed the limit twice. The first violation only lasts until the end of the week. The second, the one I just won last night, lasts until the end of the current week, and a full week after that. Thankfully, I’m on Spring Break this next week, so I won’t suffer any of the pains of having to do everything on 56k. Now, on the third infraction, you are left with 56k speed internet for the remainder of the semester. I don’t know if I could handle that for the last eight weeks or so that I’d be here. I guess I’ll just have to watch what I download. You win this time Penn State, but I will not be deterred.
