Console Wars Coming Soon
The 360 has been released for about 5 months now, and impressions of it still vary. No “killer app,” so to speak, has been released yet, but some possible ones are on the way. I don’t own a 360, but have definitely considered it. Being a big RPG fan myself, Blue Dragon and Oblivion, among a few others have caught my eye. Amidst the rootkit fiasco with Sony, the Merrill Lynch report about the pricing of the PS3, I’m starting to hope Microsoft brings down Sony. Not that I support Microsoft either, but I do own an XBox and only recently purchased a PS2 for a single title: Shadow of the Colossus. My money in this war, however, goes to the Revolution. I am by no means a Nintendo fanboy; they did me wrong with the N64. Even though it produced a few great titles, those were far and few between and paled in comparison to the depth that many PSX titles had. Then they came out with that little purple box, err cube. Two titles sum the system up: Resident Evil 4 and Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker. My disappointment with Nintendo reversed following the first photos of the controller. I became fascinated. Slowly, more information is subtlely revealed and I get even more ecstatic. The latest rumor I’ve read makes a gamer like myself wet his britches. Either way, if Nintendo can deliver on even a third of what its system promises, count me in. That’s just my take on the current situation. There are still a few months until either the PS3 or Revolution come out, so a lot remains to be seen.
